Eric,I've heard so many stories about your mom over the years. I am so glad I was able to meet her finally and talk with her at your wedding. She was a lovely lady. The photographic tribute is wonderful. Here is a poem I wrote for you, your family, and for Renee. (Line endings are indicated by elipses in case hard returns wouldn't show up.) Jack
For Renee . . . All of the choices we make . . . everything we give or take . . . returns to us in the end . . . folded in a suitcase . . . packed for our final journey . . . A mother's love long ago . . . humming an antique lullabye . . . to sleeping ears and eyes . . . a husband's strong embrace . . . a son's devotion undying to the end and beyond the end . . . a grandson's radiant face . . . a small flower you once saw . . . growing on a garden wall . . . in Le Havre between two wars . . . and now that wall is gone . . . and you and the flower are one . . . and a presence lingers in the air . . . the warmth of a smile floats there . . . held aloft by the soft winds of eternity.
Love and Peace to you all,
Jack Ramey

Eric, I am really impressed. I agree with everyone who salutes you for the very moving tribute to your mother and our dear friend, Renee.
The wonderful photos you selected reinforced our love and respect for Renee as our French teacher and as our mentor and friend.
We always knew that she was a charmer and a person who continually radiated joy. Her photos confirm what we always knew.
Seeing her in her many guises makes us love her even more.
Mme Marano you know we have always loved you. You were many-faceted as you interacted wuth us in our classroom.
We laughed together, and yes, we cried.
We can never forget you.

Wow...that was a fun trip. I remember some of those hair cuts. The images brought to me the sound of Renee calling for the dog..."Napoleon!!!" Then again the rest of the time it was calling for "Eric!" I will hold her memory in my heart forever. Fare the well, Renee.

Thanks for assembling these fond memories of Renee who was promoted from Patrick's aunt to first cousin through our marriage! RENEE understood feelings and relationships at a glance. We'll remain forever grateful that she re-introduced us to each other in the summer of 1972 after a 17 year interlude. Tatiana especially remembers what a great laugh she had. Penelope recalls: "Often she would make US laugh just by being herself." And Patrick remembers her as "his first crush." We all remember her love of life and wonderful contagious spirit, even when she was struck by sickness. "Pour moi, sa disparition cree un vide et elle me manque beaucoup." However, the pictures on the web site keep her alive in our hearts. It is very touching and sentimental. It brings the family history to life and weaves so many memories...

A beautiful way to remember Renee through the years. She truly was a gracious & beautiful lady (both inside & out). Some of my fondest memories are when I was a kid spending Christmas Eve at Uncle Chet & Aunt Renee's house in Wilbraham and not to mention those famous 4th of July picnics! Even when she was not feeling well, she never complained and managed to put on a great party! I will miss her dearly and I'm thankful that she was part of my life growing up. Thanks for the memories! Eric,
What a great tribute to Renee! Our family is fortunate to have a talented man put this together. I have very fond memories of your Mom, being the oldest cousin, I had more picnics and Christmas Eves to remember. I will always think of her as a pleasant, warm and social person. I loved the French accent, her great cooking on holidays always the most gracious hostess. We will all miss her as everyone she met thought well of her.
My love and thoughts are with you, Meri and the boys.

Renee and my grandmother were best of friends when they were younger in France. I always held a special affection for Renee and Chester. They would vist us in Virginia when I was a young child and it was always like having family in town. My grandmother passed away awhile ago and now so has her very good friend Renee. I am truely sadden by the news but, happy for the memories. Thank you Chester and Renee for the toys, the kisses and hugs and the very very happy childhood memories.
